Do you want to know the way into eternity?

Vista is an anime-style script intended to be a TV series, most likely primetime or cable-broadcast due to the nature of the plot. It is a vampire story, but I approach it from a nontraditional angle (that is, not focusing on the romantic/sexual aspect of vampirism). The concepts of God, Nature, and Time to an undying breed are primary. I had begun this story in 2005, but I was recently surprised to find that many of the themes brought up in the plot have Transcendentalist echoes. (Beforehand I had never read Emerson or Thoreau.)

The story takes place on modern-day Earth. Almost all of the characters are vampires, but two different “species” are fighting in a long war, initiated by an ancient wrong, against each other: Vampires and Nosferatu. In Vista, all vampires pass on skills and powers to successive generations through memories. Each Vampire has three forms: humanoid, bat, and wolf. (Some Sub-Classes have extra forms, but I won’t describe them here.) Nosferatu only have a hideous monster form, varying by Element—with the exception of the Nosferatu Commanders, who also have a humanoid form. Additionally, Vampires have castes—Classes and Sub-Classes—which are the skeleton of their society. Much of Vista’s class and battle systems are modeled from Japanese role-playing game conventions.

I present the heroes somewhat humanely so that what they actually are eventually retreats into the background. What is important is not that they’re scary vampires and that they eat people—it is that each group of vampires considers itself superior to the other, and both view themselves as evolved versions of life. Most importantly, they are eternal. They cannot die simply by aging—they must either be killed by someone or kill themselves. I will elaborate more in the narrative.

Genre-wise, I would classify this series as (not particularly in order of prominence): action, horror, drama, and angst. However, I will visit some other genres such as comedy and romance. In fact, Vista is decidedly far less Gothic than most vampire series. However, as with other vampire stories, many dark subjects are involved such as depression, death, moral ambiguity, and sadism. Obviously, since this is a vampire story, there will be much violence, but not gratuitous. I am aware that action is spectacle and nothing more.

Vista originally began back in 2005, and it was based on a dream I had. I had typed the series up to 13 episodes, but I stopped because I realized I had not taken the time I needed to flesh out the characters and the themes of the story. Further, the main character lacked a superobjective, which destroyed the plot. I am revamping Vista as my Senior Capstone in college, and there will be many changes to both the characters and the plot. For starters, the main character has had her name changed from Celeste to Renaissance.
